Holly Willoughby will not appear on tonight's Dancing On Ice semi-final after testing positive for COVID-19, it has been confirmed.

The show's official Twitter account broke the news that Willoughby will not be returning to the glitzy studio set this weekend, with her This Morning presenting partner Phillip Schofield instead going solo.

However, it is expected that she will back for next week's live Dancing On Ice final, which was recently delayed by one week to a new date of Sunday 27th March 2022.

You can find the show's statement on the matter below.

Following the recent change to the broadcast schedule, tonight's semi-final will see a double elimination in which the five remaining contestants will be whittled down to the top three.

The remaining members of the Dancing On Ice line-up are Olympian Kye Whyte, former Strictly pro Brendan Cole, dancer Regan Gascoigne as well as pop stars Kimberly Wyatt and Connor Ball.

This is the second popular entertainment show to be impacted by COVID-19 this week, as Thursday's episode of The Apprentice was missing Tim Campbell due to the businessman also testing positive for the virus.

As with Dancing On Ice, the show went on regardless, with another of Alan Sugar's associates, Mike Soutar, being chosen to fill in for the week.

However, this isn't the first challenge that ITV's popular skating competition has faced this year, with both Whyte and eliminated competitor Rachel Stevens missing shows due to injuries suffered on the ice.

Meanwhile, judges Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean have had to field unfounded accusations that the series is fixed, which they recently admitted to being "bored" by.

Dancing On Ice continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV. Check out more of our Entertainment coverage or visit our TV Guide to see what's on tonight.
